What do gardening and parenting have in common?

Steps for planting bulbs:
1. Gather your bulbs

2. Remove weeds

3. Dig holes at least 3" deep, sometimes more depending on which bulbs you are planting.  We were planting daffodil bulbs we found in our yard while weeding (and yes, we found a ton... about 150).

 4. Recruit help if necessary to place bulbs in holes.

("Take a picture of them in the holes, mommy!")

5. Cover the bulbs with dirt, wait until Spring, and hope for the best.

6.  Love them no matter what. (Notice my helper is in all pink - pink shirt, pink skorts, pink gardening gloves, and pink accented shoes. I love her outfit choices.)

Tips for parenting:
1. Gather desired character traits.
2. Remove undesirable traits with much effort and possibly some carnage.
3. Removing undesirable traits typically requires digging through messy relationship issues, fear, pride, and insecurities. Some will require shallow holes, others deep ones.
4. Recruit help if necessary in the form of friends, families and wise counselors.
 5. Cover your child with prayer, waiting will most likely be involved - sometimes years, and hope for the best.
6. Love them no matter what.
