Some time with friends.

There are some friends who get you... like really get you. Friends that finish your sentences or even just complete your thoughts with a look. Bridget is that for me. An example of one of our conversations is:

Bridget: Did you hear...
Me: I know
Bridget - raised eyebrows
Me: raised eyebrows and a head nod.
Bridget - Can you believe....
Me: Nope. I mean, wow.
Bridget - I know.

Jason - Really?  Did you guys just have a conversation? Am I missing something?

The fun thing is that Jason GREW UP in Pittsburgh. We're their home base this week as they make their rounds with friends and family.  Today we took them to the Carnegie Science Center. It gave me warm fuzzies when in the parking lot Bridget yelled, "Buddies" and Ainsley and Rebecca grabbed hands and Natalie and Maggie grabbed hands. They walked happily across the street to the entrance as if they see each every day.

Last night we adults went out to Mallorca - a wonderful Spanish restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh.  I ordered the delmonico steak. It was as big as my head. Henry made me take a picture.

Even though it was delicious, I was more interested in cheating on our Paleo lifestyle with their scrumptious desserts.

From top left and clockwise is almond cake, creme brulee, peanut butter cheesecake, and a triple chocolate torte. We also got a flan that was okay. Eating with Jason and Bridget is like going to a buffet. From the first time we went out (I still remember it.... at Big Bowl in the Reston Town Center sometime in 2006) we have shared food. For the desserts we take a bite and rotate to the right until they're gone.

My favorite was the almond cake - it's a soaked cake and I absolutely love soaked cakes. I'm not usually a creme brulee person, but this one was flavored with honey and cinnamon. Um, yes please. And then some. The rest were just okay for me.

We ended the night walking around Mt. Washington. Looking forward to the next few days with these dear friends.

  1. i can SO hear Jason asking that question and then you and Bridge looking at him like, "what? what do you mean?" not even realizing what you two had done until he had pointed it out.

    have a lovely week together!
