Henry and I love driving. We've always done it... whether on vacation or at home. I feel like we live in the 1950s when people took Sunday drives. Or the Victorian times when people drove their carriages around the city parks. Driving through the country with the wind in our faces and the Beatles (or any music) playing over the radio there are times I've literally felt I'm in a movie. Time stands still, media and electronics are silenced. It's just us. We talk. We sit quietly. He puts his hand on my leg.
Now that we have kids, they typically fall asleep. Which was advantageous on Saturday since every night they stayed up laughing and playing until nearly midnight and woke up early to laugh and play again. They were exhausted.
We headed north to McConnell's Mill State Park. We'd never been there and heard it was really cool. After checking out the mill, we hiked one of the trails. It was amazing. The weather is turning crisp as Autumn moves in so we couldn't have asked for better weather. The kids were ready to do something together as a family after having a week of play mates. I even had that strange feeling that my kids were absolutely adorable as if I hadn't seen them for a week!! Like seriously, they were the cutest things I'd ever seen. Here are a few pictures from our hike and of course every scenic spot that was good for family pictures!
We had such a good day... refreshed by the sunshine and reconnected as a family. It was a great way to spend the last Saturday before school starts.
Looks like loads of fun and you are spot on about the kids being adorable!
