Saturday morning we headed back to the 'cabin' and found the ranger had unlocked the door. Yea!! We unloaded all our things and then headed out for a hike. The weather turned out to be gorgeous! We didn't need jackets at all and the sun was shining. Awe-some!
Ryan wasn't sure about the hiking pack at first, but soon got used to it. I'm not sure what we're going to do when he's too big to carry. With his low-energy, he'll probably never be able to hike long distances. And by long distances I mean more than a half-hour at a time. Stink. But we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, we threw him in the pack.
At the end of the hike we came to a playground. These two headed right for the swings and complained when we left.
Henry started a puzzle.
Ryan played with some toys I brought especially for him.
As it got dark, Henry built a fire for Ainsley. The girl loves fires. "We should've brought marshmallows!" she said.
Marshmallows you say?
We spent the evening playing quietly. Henry and I finished the puzzle after the kids went to bed. With the first night spent out and the weather being so wonderful today, we only did half the activities (if that) I brought. Henry and I agreed we could use another day or two in the mountains, but decided it was too much to keep the kids out of school. We'll plan better next year and take advantage of a holiday weekend. We'll definitely do something like this again. We were asleep about 5 seconds after our heads hit our pillows. Sigh.
Surely looks like great fun!!!
