We have a green light

We are cleared for surgery tomorrow (Friday). We're supposed to arrive at the hospital at 6 a.m., anesthesia will start at 7:30, and first cut is slated for an hour after that.

Thursday we had a full day of tests, blood work, and consultations with the team. We met with the surgeon who went over what will happen during the surgery. Most of the pre-work will be hooking Ryan's heart up to the heart-lung machine. Because he has several anomalies and his heart is turned a little, it may be quite difficult to get him hooked up. The cutting out of the membrane itself is very short - like a minute or two, so that will be the easy part.

Dr. J was very positive about the surgery which is encouraging.  We'll update the blog as we have more information. He said it will probably take 4-5 hours start to finish.

  3. Oh Leighann, I just got tears in my eyes reading that. It's got to just be so, so hard as a mommy to go through this...again. Ryan is so happy and handsome. I could just eat him up!!! You've got a team of prayer warriors lifting him up tomorrow. I'll be praying for all of you and for Ryan's medical team and I'll be checking in for updates.

  4. I have been following your blog, but haven't written, but wanted you to know that you have someone in Taiwan praying for you all, as Ryan has his surgery tomorrow. This is a surgery that has comforted me during some difficult times in my life: Fear not, for I am with you; do not dismayed, for I am your God;
    I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. — Isaiah 41:10. from a fellow believer (missionary) in Taiwan...Beckie
