This is how it looks today. Creamy white walls with dark hardwood floors.
That is the fabric that forced me to learn how to thread my sewing machine.
A close-up of the fabric with the couch.
Looking at this room - which I stop to do every time I come down the stairs - is surreal. I've spent the last twelve years turning builder-grade linen white rooms into colorful rooms. This is the first room I've ever painted white....
I needed the calming effect of white to balance the curtains. I needed the curtains to liven up the couch. (I looked all over trying to find already-made curtains in stores that would match our grey-green couch but alas....) I needed the couch because it was on uber sale and fits my giant of a husband.
There's so much still to do in this room... several refinishing projects that have to wait for warmer weather.
While waiting for Spring, I'm doing indoor projects - thus the curtains. I was so intimidated by my sewing machine... but once I figured it out, these curtains are pretty simple. I used Miss Mustard Seed's curtain tutorial. I also used her curtain hanging template idea. If you're making or hanging curtains any time soon. I highly recommend checking out the links above. You'll be glad you did.
So until April... I'm enjoying the curtains.
Pertinent info:
Wall Color - Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa (SW 7551) - mixed at Home Depot with Behr paint.
Fabric - Alsbrook Spa purchased at Calico Corners.

My giant and I met in high school and have been married for over a decade. I cannot imagine living my life with anyone else.
Natalie is the typical first child - she loves to manage everyone including her parents and complete strangers. She collects things - anything really - and enjoys organizing and rearranging the contents of her drawers and shelves on nearly a daily basis. She is extremely sweet, rules-oriented, and loves giving people parting gifts to remember her by.
If anyone was made to be an Egyptian princess, it is our Ainsley. She loves being carried around and rubbed. She is an extremely happy child who seems to be singing 24/7 and will ham it up for a laugh.
Ryan is our miracle baby. We were told at 12 wks. in utero that he would never make it to 20 weeks. He was born with Pentalogy of Cantrell which includes ectopia cordis, omphalocele, herniated diaphragm, sternal cleft, and ventricular septal defect (VSD). Additionally, he has a missing PDA, pulmonary atresia, hypoplastic right heart syndrome (HRHS), and a cor triatriatum membrane in his heart. To read his full story, click on the labels Baby Boy (before birth story) and Ryan (since birth story).
